Connecting your federal registration

To win federal contracts, your business needs an active registration in the federal contracting database. This article walks you through how to confirm your registration and connect it to RFI Hawk.

What you need

  • A Unique Entity Identifier (UEI), which is a 12-character code assigned when you register your business with the federal government
  • An active federal registration, with valid representations and certifications

If you do not have these yet, your local PTAC or APEX Accelerator can help you register at no cost.

Steps

  1. From Settings, click My Business Profile.

  2. In the Federal Registration section, paste your UEI.

  3. Click Verify. RFI Hawk checks that the UEI is active.

  1. Once verified, RFI Hawk:
  2. Pre-fills your business information from your federal registration
  3. Refreshes your information when your federal registration is updated
  4. Includes the UEI on your capability statement and proposals

What to do if it does not work

If verification fails, the most common reasons are: - The UEI is mistyped (12 characters, no spaces) - Your federal registration has expired (registrations expire annually) - The legal business name in your registration does not match what you typed

If your registration has expired, renew it at the federal registration site. The renewal takes a few hours to propagate.
