Task 5.14 Mail Packet Processing Services is a distinct function separate from mail receipt, scanning, and conversion. It represents human-assisted claims processing actions, analogous to work a claims assistant would perform, on mail packets that automated processing was unable to complete, ensuring mail is actioned the same day it enters a work queue. The contractor's Task 5.14 obligation is to process 5,000 7,000 packets per day following the Month 3 ramp-up period as outlined in Table 5 of PWS Section 5.14. The Government notes that this volume has trended downward over time as mail automation capabilities have matured, though temporary spikes may occur due to automation issues or special projects.
